Leyton Area Guide
Leyton has benefited greatly from its proximity to the Olympic Park; in 2012 the council put their hands in their pocket and got the painters in to gussy up the High Road with a charming, Portobello-esque multicolour paint job. Leyton Jubilee Park was also improved, so as well as being picnic-pretty it now boasts a dandy wooden pirate ship for local sprogs to lark about on.
PLACES TO GOLee Valley Ice Centre - It’s the perfect seasonal treat, especially with family skating and disco nights at Lee Valley Ice Centre. Absolute beginners can join experienced figure skaters here as all abilities are welcome.
Leyton Leisure Lagoon - Forget your standard community pool: Leyton Leisure Lagoon is a swimming spectacular with flumes, jets and more.
Leyton Great Hall - The jewel in the crown of the Legacy Business Centre in Leyton, E10; a Grade II listed building, fully restored. Leyton Great Hall is arguably one of (if not) the finest venues in east London and stands as a testament to the glamour of the era of Art Nouveau.
Marmelo Kitchen - An independent restaurant serving delicious-looking food that's the brainchild of Natalie Stopford, who started Marmelo as a preserves business before growing to Marmelo Kitchen.
